What is Digital Signage?

What is Digital Signage

The benefits are significant

Replacing traditional billboards, point-of-sale displays, and other static signage, digital signage has emerged as a great new way to catch the attention of an audience constantly on the move. The benefits are significant and ultimately digital signage can generate a far greater return on investment than traditional static signs. Digital signs allow advertisers to send relevant, up to date, high impact content to audiences that are in the perfect location to act on the message. They are also very cost effective as, once installed, they do not need to be repeatedly replaced as printed signs do- the content just needs to be updated.

Diverse technology available

Digitals signage comes in many forms to suit a wide range of applications straddling almost all industries from simple text-based scrolling messages and updateable time tables to huge, high resolution plasma screens showing streamed video and audio. This wide range of applications is reflected in the diverse technology available to provide the solutions. A digital sign can be a high resolution television screen fed by a networked media player located near by, a VGA or DVI plasma screen showing images generated on a remote computer and delivered to the screen over Cat5, or an RS-422/485 driven text display or even a mixture of technologies. They can be point to point solutions with just one screen or they can be massive networks with tens or hundreds of screens all showing dynamic content.
